Half Moon Pose (ardha Chandrasana) Exercise
Step 1
Start standing with the block a step in front of you, with your left hand resting on your left hip. Inhale, bend your right knee and slide your left foot a step forward, reaching your right hand forward towards the block.
Step 2
Exhale, press your right hand to the block and right heel firmly to the floor and straighten your right leg while lifting your left leg parallel to the floor. Press downward with your left heel to keep your raised leg strong. Be careful not to lock your right knee, making sure your kneecap is aligned forward, not turned inward. Rotate your torso to the left, and keep your left hand on your left hip. Hold this position for five breaths, then switch legs and repeat. For a more challenging exercise, raise your left arm to the sky.
